Maryland Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a final rule addressing the requirements for Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) compliance with the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA). MHPAEA requires parity in the treatment limitations and financial requirements for mental health and substance use disorder (MH/SUD) benefits, as compared to medical/surgical (M/S) benefits.

The final rule requires states to conduct an analysis to determine if the overall delivery system complies with the provisions of the rule.
