CMS Waivers and Flexibilities Check-In

Maryland Medicaid has elected to continue certain waiver authorities active during the Public Health Emergency (PHE) and use new waiver authorities during the unwinding period

  • CMS has enabled states to use extensions of certain Disaster State Plan authorities and strategies authorized under Section 1902(e)(14)(A) of the Social Security Act (“1902(e)(14)(A) strategies”).
  • Maryland has requested various flexibilities during unwinding and has implemented other strategies to ensure eligible individuals stay covered by Medicaid or transition to other appropriate coverage.
  • Maryland continues to actively consider and evaluate other authorities that may be available during the unwinding period.
