​​Change Healthcare, part of UnitedHealth Group, which also owns Optum, reported a cybersecurity incident on February 21, 2024, that has disrupted connectivity and healthcare operations nationwide. 

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) has determined that there are no immediate direct impacts or high risks to the Department. However, we continue to monitor the impact of this outage on providers and patients.

​Actions providers may take:

• Update your Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to transmit Medicaid Fee-for-Service claims directly or through a clearinghouse other than Change Healthcare.
  
• To enroll in EDI testing, email mdh.hipaaeditest@maryland.gov.
  
• For questions regarding EDI or electronic billing, email mdh.ediops@maryland.gov.
  
• Contact the Medicaid participant’s managed care organization​ (MCO) for information regarding MCO claims.
  
• Refer Optum questions or issues to Optum Technical Support.
  
• Refer specific account issues to your Account Manager.
