Baltimore (July 29, 2011) --The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) has announced the appointment of Donald Shell, M.D., MA as the Interim Director of the Center for Health Promotion, Education, Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation effective Monday, July 25, 2011.
Dr. Shell has 17 years of experience in the field of public health. Dr. Shell's career in public health began in 1995 with the Prince George's County Health Department Healthy Teens and Young Adults Center, providing sports medicine and male reproductive health care. He served as Deputy Health Officer from 2005 and as Health Officer from 2006 to July 2011.
"Don will help educate and inspire Marylanders to take action for health," said Dr. Joshua M. Sharfstein, DHMH Secretary. "We look forward to his joining the DHMH team."
