DHMH to recognize Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month

BALTIMORE, MD (August 31, 2009) – Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DHMH) Secretary John M. Colmers will kick off the state’s recognition of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) 20th National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month during ceremonies to be held at the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration (ADAA) beginning at 11:00 a.m. September 1.

Secretary Colmers will present the Governor’s proclamation declaring September as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month in Maryland.  A keynote presentation will be provided by Ms. Kimberly Burton, Director of Older Adult Programs, Mental Health Association of Maryland.
