Answer: During the 1999 Session of the Maryland General Assembly, Senate Bill 302 passed which requires the Board to create a profile on each licensed physician. |

Question: What information will be provided on the profile? (back to top) |
| |
Answer: The physician profile will include the following information: |
| |
- Final disciplinary actions taken by the MBP.
- Final disciplinary actions taken by another state board.
- Medical school attended and the date of graduation.
- Certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Osteopathic Association.
- Hospital privileges
- Primary practice setting.
- Participation in Maryland Medical Assistance Program.
- Medical malpractice information.
- Criminal information.
- Links to the American Medical Association (AMA) and Maryland Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO's).

Answer: The Board compiled the information from various sources including Board files, hospital reports and information reported on the physician's last renewal, initial, or reinstatement application. |

| |
Answer: The Board provides a mechanism for notification and prompt correction of any factual inaccuracies in a licensee's profile. |

Answer: The Board will update the profile within 10 business days after receipt of the corrected profile. |

Answer: Providing false information may be grounds for discipline including denial, suspension or revocation of a physician's license. |
