SALARY: $22,448 - $34,716 (Grade 6)

DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the preparation of attractive, good tasting food through the utilization of a variety of cooking methods for the patients, residents and employees of Deer’s Head Hospital Center and Coastal Hospice. This position also provides proper sanitation and cleaning of equipment and the department. This position prepares and cooks food, demonstrates knowledge of and prepares regular modified meals as per menu, ensures
pre-preparation of foods (washing, peeling, thawing, etc.), and participates in mandatory in-service education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in food preparation at a public or governmental establishment, such as a restaurant, hospital or comparable institution involving the cooking of meats and vegetables and the preparation of salads and beverages.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION:
Serve Safe Certification is desirable. Please attach of a copy of certification to State application (MS-100) for full consideration.
NOTE:
Graduation from an accredited vocational/technical high school with a major in food service or a related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
