DESCRIPTION: This is the entry level of professional work in the field of pharmacy at a State facility. Employees in this classification compounds and dispenses needed drugs and pharmaceutical supplies for the patient population. The employee is responsible for the accuracy and proper accounting for drugs; for inspection of drug storage centers in order to assure proper storage of all pharmaceuticals; for withdrawal of outdated preparations; and for the maintenance of adequate, but not excessive, supplies. In a facility with only one pharmacist, this employee will be responsible for the operation of the pharmacy. This employee is responsible to either a higher level pharmacist or to an administrative supervisor. The employee may supervise any subordinate personnel responsible for requisitioning and storing of drugs.

LICENSE: Candidates for positions in this
classification must possess a current license as a Registered Pharmacist from
the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy,
1. Persons appointed in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance to the Code of Maryland Regulations, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
2. After an offer of employment, applicants may be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform essential job functions.
3. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
