SALARY: $41,074 - $65,568 (Grade 16)  


DESCRIPTION: A Nutritionist III is professional work at the administrative and consultative level in the field of community nutrition. Employees in this class function as director of either a generalized community nutrition program of a small or medium county agency, or of a medium to large nutrition sub-program, such as WIC or Maternal and Child Health. The employee is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, coordinating, and revising the nutrition component of the agency's services and programs. Employees receive supervision from a higher level nutritionist, health officer or other administrator.


EDUCATION: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice under the licensing requirements for Nutritionists and Dietitians.

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years experience providing nutrition or dietetic services, one (1) year of which must include experience in a public health or community setting.  

LICENSE: Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Dietitian or Nutritionist from the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215 prior to permanent appointment. A copy of the current license MUST accompany application.

1. A Master's Degree in Public Health, Community Health or Nutrition from an accredited college or university  may be substituted for one (1) year of the required general experience.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS:  The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
