TITLE: PSYCHOLOGIST I (0612) JE

SALARY: $46,563 - $74,725 (Grade 18)

DESCRIPTION: The Psychologist I is the intermediate level of professional psychology staff work applying the science of psychology to the investigation, understanding and modification of human behavior and adjustment and providing psychological services such as diagnostic assessments; individual and group counseling and psychotherapy to persons considered emotionally disturbed, maladjusted, developmentally disabled or suffering from other psychological stress. Employees in this class do not supervise other psychologists but may supervise non-licensed psychology staff or other health care staff in multi-disciplinary programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Determined by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists under licensing requirements for psychologists.

EXPERIENCE: Determined by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists under licensing requirements for psychologists.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
1.  Candidates must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologist prior to appointment to a position in State service.
A copy of current license must be attached to application form MS-100. 

2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operatorís license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS: The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
