"The unified efforts of our many partners working to increase HIV testing, prevention, and treatment services in Maryland are commendable," said DHMH Secretary Joshua Sharfstein. "When it comes to HIV, knowledge of your status is power to improve and protect your health."
On this important day of HIV awareness, DHMH is officially launching the Greater Than AIDS Campaign in Maryland. The Greater Than AIDS Movement is a national media, community outreach campaign that aims to elevate the public's knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and confront the stigma surrounding the disease. Maryland's Greater Than AIDS campaign will target billboards, radio announcements, and other advertising in the most heavily affected areas of our State.
"Currently, there are approximately 30,000 people living with HIVand an estimated additional 7,500 Marylanders who are not aware that they have HIV," said IDEHA Director, Heather Hauck. "The Maryland Greater Than AIDS campaign is a tremendous opportunity to encourage more Marylanders to Get educated about HIV, Get tested for HIV, and Get treated if they have HIV so they can live healthier, longer lives."
