DHMH Press Releases : prescription drug monitoring program roundtable


On May 10, 2011 Governor Martin O'Malley signed into legislation that will create Maryland's first Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. On that day the Governor convened a Roundtable discussion with over 100 partners and stakeholders in this effort to turn the tide against a rising drug abuse problem in Maryland and across the nation. He was joined at the event by Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene among others.
