Board of Review
The Office of Governmental Affairs (OGA) staff serves as the Liaison for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Board of Review (Board). In this capacity, OGA staffs and provides support to the Board in carrying out its responsibilities under the administrative appeals process. The Board convenes hearings throughout the year and makes determinations on appeals from decisions of administrative law judges in contested cases involving DHMH facilities, programs, and services that are subject to judicial review by law or regulation. Most cases involve decisions concerning Medical Assistance coverage and reimbursement. In addition, appeals arise from issues involving the Maryland Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program; the Maryland Milk Control Program; licensing and certification of health care facilities; and other issues.
