IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING BOARD RULEMAKING PROPOSAL RE: COMAR 10.43.01 et seq. - Effective 9/12/2013
The DHMH Office of Legislation/Regulations has advised the Board that the proposed rulemaking regarding revision of Board chiropractic and massage regulations (COMAR 10.43. 01 et seq) will be formally published in the October 4, 2013 edition of the Maryland Register, which can be accessed online at:

Please note that this rulemaking project was fully announced nearly two years ago and the Board conducted three (3) public hearings on September 20, 2012; April 12, 2012; and May 9, 2013. At those hearings, all attendees had the opportunity to review proposals and to present comments and suggestions.

Chiropractor License Renewal Now in Progress.
The online renewal login is now active on this website homepage. All chiropractic licensees may view all information regarding renewal processing on this website and are required to renew their licenses by midnight, August 31st. The Board is conducting a 50% CEU audit of all licensees this renewal cycle. Licensees who fail to meet the renewal deadline may not practice and must pay a $500.00 late fee if renewing after the August 31st deadline.
The State Board of Chiropractic & Massage Therapy Examiners (the "Board") operates under the provisions of Title 3 of the Health Occupations Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Board is the licensing authority for Chiropractors, Chiropractic Assistants, Massage Therapists and Massage Practitioners in the State of Maryland. The Board is mandated to protect the public by regulating the practice of chiropractic and massage therapy in Maryland; by licensing, registering and certifying qualified chiropractors, chiropractic assistants, massage therapists and massage practitioners; establishing fees; maintaining a current roster of all licensees; administration of licensing examinations; enforcing current statutes and regulations; adopting new regulations to carry out provisions of the Title; suggesting new changes to the Title to keep abreast of trends and practice issues; adopting standards of practice for chiropractic and massage therapy; verification of credentials; issuance of licenses; establish requirements for and verification of completion of continuing education; investigation of complaints based on alleged violations of regulations and statutes; formal and informal disciplining of licensees; create committees as deemed appropriate to advise the Board. The program is 100% special funded. The fund is supported exclusively by revenues generated by licensing fees. The Board consists of 11 members appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Senate. Six members of the Board are licensed chiropractors, three are licensed massage therapists and two consumer members represent the public.
The Mission of the Board of Chiropractic & Massage Therapy Examiners is to protect the citizens of Maryland and to promote quality health care in the field of chiropractic and massage therapy by:
1) Licensing chiropractors and massage therapist and registering chiropractic assistants and massage practitioners while insuring competency through mandated continuing education programs for each discipline;
2) Receiving and resolving complaints from the public, courts, employers, insurance companies, other licensees regarding chiropractors, chiropractic assistants, massage therapists who may have violated the law (Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations Article, Title 3) and its regulations found at COMAR 10.43; and,
3)Setting standards for the practice of chiropractic and massage therapy that reflect new and emergent developments in the practice of chiropractic and massage therapy through regulations and legislation.
Providing citizens qualified chiropractors, chiropractic assistants, massage therapists and massage practitioners to further the good health and well-being of the citizens of Maryland.
