Welcome to the Board of Physical Therapy Examiners

The Board of Physical Therapy Examiners has been in existence since 1947 to regulate the practice of physical therapy in the State of Maryland. Physical therapist assistants have been licensed in this State since 1972. Board meetings are held every third Tuesday of the month and are open to the public.

Duties of the Board include writing regulations, interpreting the scope of practice, educating licensees, and disciplining those who violate the law. The most important function is protecting the citizens of Maryland

 

NOTICE TO PHYSICAL THERAPISTS RENEWING
 
The total cost of renewal is $261.00.  The licensure fee remains $225.00.  The assessment from the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) has increased from $28.00 to $36.00 biennial.
This is a correction to information presented in the RENEWAL LETTER.  Board staff apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.Renewal Period begins March 17, 2014
 

 

We are pleased to announce a full-day training opportunity for medical and healthcare professionals titled “Treating Veterans and their Families in Primary Care Settings.”
The training will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Gathering Place in Clarksville, Maryland (right outside Columbia) and is co-sponsored by the Maryland Veterans Resilience Initiative, the University of Maryland Health Center, and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Experts from Walter Reed Military Medical Center, the Pentagon, and the US Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery will speak about important health issues experienced by veterans and how primary care providers can enhance their practice to serve this important population. 
 
The cost of $25 includes catered lunch, parking, and all training materials.

    Passing the examination does not mean that you are licensed to practice 

    Allow up to 3 weeks, after scores are reported, for license numbers to be issued
