The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) has informed the Maryland Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA) that candidates are being sought for an Occupational Therapist member of the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice (MBOTP). The term begins on July 1, 2012. DHMH has requested MOTA to submit a list of nominees by mid-April, 2012.
Nominees are not required to be MOTA members. In addition, a nominee may not be a registered lobbyist or a State employee.
Pursuant to §10-202 of the Health Annotated Code of MD, the nominee must:
- Be a Maryland resident at the time of the nomination, appointment, and duration of the term; and
- For at least 3 of the 5 years immediately before appointment have been engaged in practicing, teaching, or performing research in occupational therapy.
Any occupational therapist meeting the criteria above and wishing to become a candidate for this position should visit the Maryland Occupational Therapy Association's website (http://mota.memberlodge.org) for specific information in applying for a position on the Board. The website has the Biographical Information Form needed for submission as well as MOTA contact information. Submissions will be accepted until April 18, 2012.
