 About the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists

        Welcome to the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.  The Board operates under the Maryland Professional Counselors and Therapists Act, Health Occupations Article, Title 17, Annotated Code of Maryland.   The Board is the licensing authority of professional counselors and therapists in the State of Maryland.  The Board is mandated to regulate the practice of counseling and therapy by licensing and certifying qualified counselors and therapists, adopting a code of ethics, establishing fees, promulgating regulations for the practice of professional counseling and therapy, verification of credentials, issuances of licenses, establish requirements for and verification of completion of continuing education, investigation of complaints based on alleged violations of regulations and statutes, create committees to advise the Board on special issues and submit an annual report to the Governor and Secretary.

Board Meeting Time, Place, Date and Directions

The Board of Professional Counselors & Therapists meets the third Friday of each month, except July and August. All meetings start at 11:00 a.m.

Directions:

From the South – take the Baltimore Beltway 695W (Towson) to exit 18A-Lochearn. This will place you on Liberty Road going south. Turn left on Patterson Avenue (the 6th traffic light – the light after St. Luke’s Lane). Proceed on Patterson Avenue 3 lights. After cross over the railroad tracks and under the subway overpass, you will see the office building on the right hand side.

From Downtown Baltimore:

From 83N (Jones Falls Expressway) take exit 10B to Northern Parkway West. Turn right on Reisterstown Road.

At the 4th traffic light, make left onto Patterson Avenue. You can see brown office building on left hand side of road after passing a strip mall.
